With a reboot of the classic television game show Hollywood Squares set to debut in 2025 and no doubt a nod to the King of the Centre Square, Paul Lynde, whose jokes on the show were often thinly veiled references to his homosexuality, Eastern Front Theatre returns with another edition of Haliwood Squares; this year with a twist.
Partnering with Halifax Pride, this year’s show has been renamed Haliwood Queers. Hosted by drag performer Rouge Fatale, it will feature some of Halifax’s queer personalities, including drag queens Elle Noir and Anna Mona-Pia, sociologist Robert S. Wright, MLA Dr. Lisa Lachance, comedian Adam Myatt, local theatre artist Lara Lewis, and drag performers Abel T. Suckizone, Colin Sick and Lou Campbell.

A riff on the iconic game show, contestants from the audience will vie for local prizes as they navigate through campy questions, deciphering who is telling the truth and who is bluffing. Between rounds, drag queens Rouge Fatale, Elle Noir, and Anna Mona-Pia will take the stage to perform.
Eastern Front Theatre presents Haliwood Queers at the Alderney Landing Theatre (2 Ochterloney St, Dartmouth) on July 25. Visit easternfronttheatre.com for tickets and information.
