Get ready for the laughs at this year’s Ha!ifax ComedyFest

This year's festival features over 30 comedians over four days in April

Now in its 24th year, the 2019 Ha!ifax ComedyFest will feature over thirty comedians at venues across the city from April 24 through April 27.

The Festival’s biggest year to date, the annual ComedyFest will feature comedians from across the country and around the world, including internationally renowned performers Hal Sparks, Alonzo Bodden, and Shaun Majumder.

Actor, comedian, and musician, Hal Sparks is also a highly respected political activist with his own weekly radio show. Beginning his career as a member of the Second City Troupe, he’s hosted Talk Soup on E!, starred in Showtime’s hit series Queer as Folk and has appeared in films such as Spiderman 2 and Dude, Where’s My Car. Sparks will perform as part of the All Star Show (Apr 25) and Gala of Laughs Finale (Apr 27).

Alonzo Bodden was introduced to North America on NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and has been seen in a number of TV’s top comedy shows including Fresh Off the Boat, Dr. Ken, and Californiacation. Bodden has also appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. He will perform at the Ha!ifax ComedyFest’s Opening Gala (Apr 24) and Gala of Laughs (Apr 26).

Fresh off his one-man show The Hate Tour, Shaun Majumder returns to Halifax with his inside take on society, politics and life. Majumber performs for one-night only at the Gala of Laughs (Apr 26).

The lineup for the 2019 Ha!ifax ComedyFest also includes: Debra DiGiovanni, Trent McClellan, Ryan Belleville, Tim Nutt, Leonard Chan, Michael Moses, Pete Johansson, Shelina Merani, Eman El-Husseini, Hoodo Hersi, Ted Morris, Andrew Barr, Sophie Buddle, Erica Sigurdson, Matt Falk, Mike Delamont, Angelo Tsarouchas, Drew Behm, Nick Martinello, Adam Delorey, Charles Haycock, Matt Wright, Mayce Galoni, Chanty Marostica, and Andrew Johnston.

In addition, Casino Nova Scotia will host LGBTQLMFAO, the Last Laugh Comedy Club, along with the return of the popular The Nasty Show.

This year’s Festival is also venturing outside the downtown core with shows at Montes Showbar Grill in Waverly, Brewsters Pub in Bedford, and The Lower Deck Bar and Grill in Clayton Park.
