Event Details

The AfterWords Literary Festival, a celebration of writers, readers, and the ideas that bring them together, has announced its full program and list of participating writers for its third annual festival, Tuesday, September 28 to Sunday, October 3.

The festival, webcast through Zoom online (with closed captioning available upon request), will offer a mix of readings, conversations, workshops and a two-day writers conference.

This year’s headliners include Lawrence Hill, Souvankham Thammavongsa, Megan Gail Coles, Sheila Heti, Avni Doshi, Ann-Marie MacDonald, Shelagh Rogers and Mark Critch.

The festival will mark Truth and Reconciliation Day on September 30 with a new poem from Rebecca Thomas, followed by Katherena Vermette in conversation with Janet Rogers.

Other participating authors include Anne Simpson, Jean-Philippe Raîche, Vicki Grant, Tom Ryan, Wanda Lauren Taylor, Chad Lucas, Lesley Crewe, Genevieve Graham, Annick Macaskill, Francesca Ekwuyasi, Shalan Joudry plus workshops with Sarah Mian, Casey Plett, Andre Fenton, Pauline Dakin, Michelle Good and Anne Simpson.
