Angela Hewitt

Event Details

Angela Hewitt occupies a unique position among today’s leading international pianists. With a vast repertoire and frequent appearances in recital settings and with orchestras around the world, Hewitt is also a Grammy Award-winning recording artist whose performances of Johann Sebastian Bach have established her as one of the composer’s foremost interpreters.

There is plenty of Bach packed into this special all-Baroque recital including the composer’s Four Preludes and Fugues from The Well-Tempered Clavier (Book II), generally regarded as being among the most important works in the Baroque music canon, and his highly decorative and textured English Suite No. 4 in F major. The Canadian pianist also performs Bach’s ingenious Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, BWV 582, treats the audience to a group of Domenico Scarlatti’s sonatas, and performs François Couperin’s early 18th-century ornamental Dix-huitième Ordre. Presented by Cecilia Concerts as part of the 2022 Baroque Fest.
