Upstream Music Association opens its 2024-2025 season with the dynamic trio of François Michaud (violin, viola), Viviane Arnoux (accordion), and Hervé Samb (guitar), who will bring their innovative project to Halifax on September 15.

“Upstream’s 2024-2025 season starts with a playful meeting of virtuoso musicians from Quebec, France, and Senegal who weave diverse threads of improvisation and song into a joyful exploration that defies easy categorization,” says Lukas Pearse, artistic director of Upstream Music Association.

&Fusion is the latest creation from the renowned French duo Musique Acoustique Machine (M.A.M.), known for constantly reinventing their sound. Now, with the addition of the acclaimed Senegalese guitarist Hervé Samb, their music is a moving and jubilant celebration of French-speaking cultures from three continents. Melodies and rhythms intertwine, reinvent themselves, and transcend each other to create music filled with energy and sparkling improvisations.

&Fusion promises to be a highlight of Upstream’s musical performances this season. Expect an evening of musical exploration that offers fresh sounds and bridges both cultures and genres.
