Long Distance Relationships for Mythical Times

Event Details

Long Distance Relationships for Mythical Times arrives at the Halifax Central Library this week for six shows only from Sept 8 to 11 as the inaugural performance in 2b theatre company’s Great Little Works series.

2b’s RBC Emerging Artist-in-Residence Gloria Mok is working with Halifax’s Theatre du Poulet (Carmen Lee and Roland Chun Shing Au) to weave together a personal story about long-distance relationships, immigration, and a Chinese astrological folktale about forbidden love. Utilizing food, simple objects, and conversational Cantonese, a dinner table transforms into a liminal space that explores the challenges and triumphs of seeking love and connection at a distance.

Great Little Works is 2b’s series of intimate performances based on humanity’s greatest works of theatre and literature, each brought to life by one performer at a table. These shows are uniquely designed for this moment; shows built for small audiences, safely performable during the pandemic, producing minimal ecological impact, and maximal emotional and spiritual value.

Check the 2b theatre company website for tickets and more information.
