Event Details

Experience the mesmerizing artistry of ten-time Prix Opus-winning Canadian pianist Louise Bessette as she brings to life an evocative and intriguing program.

Delve into the atmospheric soundscapes of Nova Scotia composer John Plant’s new work “West Jeddore.” Journey through the expressive and intricate layers of Paul Frehner’s “Amelia, After Harbour Grace” for piano, fixed media, and live electronics. This work is inspired by Amelia Earhart, who took off from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Labrador, in 1932 for her historic solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean, making her the first woman to achieve this feat. Then explore rhythmic passion and lyrical beauty as Besettte traverses the vivid landscapes of Spain and Latin America through the enchanting music of legendary composers Joaquín Turina, Ernesto Lecuona, and Astor Piazzolla.

Louise Bessette’s exceptional musicianship and deep connections to the works invite listeners on an unforgettable sonic adventure, exploring the rich tapestry of emotions and colours woven into these remarkable works.
