Event Details
Toronto singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist Shawna Caspi performs in the sanctuary at Port Wallis United Church on June 8, 2025, as part of her spring east coast tour, with an opening set from North Bay singer-songwriter Rose-Erin Stokes.
Shawna is on the road supporting her latest album, Hurricane Coming, which was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award and an Ontario Folk Music Award. She’ll have CDs for sale, along with postcards featuring original artwork she created inspired by each song on the album. Shawna is an accomplished visual artist and will sell original landscape paintings with her merchandise, while supplies last.
Audiences will feel comforted in the welcoming space that Shawna creates, and be engaged in songs that resonate with stories that are relatable, but told in new and unexpected ways, with lyrics that are poetic and meaningful, wrapped around intricate fingerstyle guitar accompaniment. This is music that makes an authentic human connection, that conveys a sense of closeness, of being understood, of feeling less alone.
This is Shawna’s first East Coast tour since the pandemic, but she is no stranger to Nova Scotia audiences, as a past performer at the Deep Roots Music Festival in Wolfville and the Harmony Bazaar Festival in Lockeport.
