Following a successful festival circuit run that included screenings at Slamdance, Canadian Film Festival, and Athens International Film Festival, the award-winning Halifax-shot independent feature Look at Me is hitting the big screen for a special one-night-only theatrical screening in Halifax.
This film started as a small passion project made with friends on weekends, and it has grown into something beyond what we ever imagined. – Taylor Olson
Written, directed and featuring Halifax filmmaker Taylor Olson, the intensely personal fictional autobiography explores themes of eating disorders, identity, and self-acceptance.
“This film started as a small passion project made with friends on weekends, and it has grown into something beyond what we ever imagined,” says Olson in a media release. “We are thrilled to share it with audiences and hope to spark important conversations.”
In addition to receiving Audience Choice Awards from the Tallahassee Film Festival and Film Invasion LA, Olson and Stephanie MacDonald received several awards for their performances in the film at multiple festivals.
The Halifax screening will include a post-film panel with experts and cast members, including Olson, to discuss the film’s themes and the impact of eating disorders.
Look at Me will be screened at Carbon Arc Cinemas (1747 Summer St, Halifax) on February 13, 2025. Visit carbonarc.ca for tickets and information.
