The TD Halifax Jazz Festival returns to the waterfront and other venues in Halifax from July 13 through July 17. Here are 5 acts we think you should not miss this year:
1Nova Scotia Youth Jazz Orchestra (July 13): the Jazz Festival kicks off its free daytime shows on the waterfront main stage with a performance from the next generation of Jazz musicians.

2Perfume Genius (July 15): Grammy Award-nominated singer, songwriter, and musician Perfume Genius (aka Michael Hadreas) performs with opening folk music act The Weather Station.

3A Tribute to Jerry Granelli (July 16): the Jazz Festival honours legendary Jazz drummer Jerry Granelli with an evening of music led by his son and featuring a variety of special guests.

4Molly Johnson & Alex Cuba (July 16): Juno Award-winning singer-songwriter Molly Johnson shares the stage with Latin Grammy & Juno Award-winner Alex Cuba for an evening of music on the Festival’s main stage.

5Reeny Smith (July 17): award-winning Halifax-based songwriter, musician and producer Reeny Smith opens for The Mellotones on the Festival’s main stage in a performance that will include her newest single, Goodbye.
