Daniel James McFadyen takes home a trio of trophies at this year’s Music Nova Scotia Music Awards

2024's Music Nova Scotia Week culminated with 29 awards being handed out during a ceremony at Acadia University in Wolfville.

Halifax singer-songwriter Daniel James McFadyen was the big winner at this year’s Music Nova Scotia Music & Industry Awards, the annual awards recognizing excellence in music by Nova Scotia artists, taking home three trophies during a ceremony over the weekend at Acadia University in Wolfville.

Originally nominated in four categories, the folk artist won Folk/Roots Recording of the Year for his EP Songs To Show Your Friends and Music Video of the Year for the single Sunshine, the first single off the album. McFadyen was also named this year’s SOCAN Songwriter of the Year.

Fall River’s alt-pop singer-songwriter Maggie Andrew also won multiple awards this past weekend, including being named African Nova Scotian Artist of the Year and winning New Artist Recording of the Year for her debut EP, Day Job.
