As part of its 36th season, Cecilia Concerts, in conjunction with Alliance Française Halifax, presents France’s Ensemble Faenza in a performance of Renaissance music and rarely performed works from the early Baroque era.

One of the highlights of the performance will be the use of period-specific instruments. Combined with the Ensemble’s technique and attention to historical detail, these rare instruments allow modern audiences to experience the music as originally intended.
“Ensemble Faenza’s dedication to authenticity and their ability to bring the rich emotional landscapes of early Baroque music is exceptional,” says Greg Morris, the executive director of Cecilia Concerts.
Under the direction of musician and musicologist Marco Horvat, he will be joined by fellow members Olga Pitarch from Spain and Chile’s Francisco Mañalich. The concert will feature the works of early Baroque composers Giulio Caccini and Claudio Monteverdi and their contemporaries.
“This Ensemble crafts performances that transport audiences to a different time, yet the music feels deeply relevant and engaging today,” continues Morris. “The combination of historically informed technique and expressive interpretation in this program promises to be an extraordinary experience.”
Cecilia Concerts and Alliance Française Halifax present Ensemble Faenza at The Stage at St. Andrew’s (6036 Coburg Rd, Halifax) on October 19. Visit ceciliaconcerts.ca for tickets and information.
