The Halifax Urban Folk Festival (HUFF) returns for its 15th edition from September 30 to October 6, 2024. While the annual celebration of folk music will bring artists from beyond our shores, this year’s festival will focus on homegrown talent, including performances by Adam Baldwin, Rose Cousins, Lucy MacNeil, Jimmy Rankin, and Reeny.

The Carleton in downtown Halifax remains the festival’s base again this year, with the following acts scheduled to perform:
September 30 – Jimmy Rankin and Leeroy Stagger
October 1 – Cory Tetford, Haliey Smith and Reeny
October 2 – Lucy MacNeil
October 3 – Rose Cousins – Two Shows
October 4 – Adam Baldwin with an opening song circle featuring Alejandro Escovedo, Leeroy Stagger and Linda McLean
October 5 – Alejandro Escovedo & The Halifax All Stars with an opening song circle featuring Mick Davis, Mo Kenney, and Paul Murphy
October 6 – Jenina MacGillivray with Tanya Davis
In addition to the seven nights of music at The Carleton, HUFF will also present shows at The Basement, where Rankin MacInnis and The Broken Reeds with Jamie Fontaine will perform on October 3. The Marquee will see NOBRO performing on October 4, and RadStorm will host an all-ages show on October 5 featuring SIGSOUR, Fluke, and The Orchids.
“I’m also thrilled we have four venues to choose from this year, as well as the opportunity to welcome back Texas-based rock artist Alejandro Escovedo, our go-to guy for significant milestone anniversary celebrations,” continues Campbell.
