Halifax Presents was Live at The Carleton in our continuing live online music series as we welcomed Roadside Scarecrow band members Adam Wood and Colin Boutilier on June 10.
Adam Wood has been fronting bands for over 20 years in the HRM and Vancouver. Adam’s early musical roots are tied to punk rock, alt. rock and heavy rock but more recently cites Glen Danzig, Johnny Cash and Mike Ness as his greatest musical influences.
A multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Colin Boutilier, honed his improvisation-driven style in the house band for a local open-mic jam. His sound aims to blend classic Bakersfield country music, with the blues of southern-rock jam bands and the harmonies of classic folk-rock. He draws heavily from his many musical influences, such as Merle Haggard, Duane Allman, Eagles, Waylon Jennings, ZZ Top, The Band, and Blue Rodeo.
In 2017, Adam formed Roadside Scarecrow alongside fiddle player Andrew Touesnard. Joined by Boutilier, Jeff Brown, and Matthew Rockwell, the band released its debut single in April. A second single is scheduled for this summer, followed by two concept records later this year.
