Halifax Presents returned Live at The Carleton in our continuing live online music series as we welcomed Cameron Hawes on April 29.
A singer-songwriter from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, after releasing his first solo EP Hawes formed Vancouver band Barefoot Mountain and recorded with them in recent years. A car accident in Vancouver resulted in the cancellation of a Canadian tour and a struggle that lasted through the winter. Now back on the East Coast, he is set to release a new single and a new record in the upcoming months.
“Over the years my music has taken on many different forms. From love ballads and songs of lust and pain to revolutionary music and songs of truth and happiness,” says Hawes in an artist statement. “After over-analyzing, approaching each element from every last angle and pushing my personal standards higher and higher, I am happy to say my sound has solidified in some way. It has become an art I am familiar with and a companion in my journey. I hope my sound resonates with you the way it does with me.”
