Halifax Presents was Live at The Carleton in our continuing live online music series as we welcomed Garry Williams on June 3.

An award-winning composer-lyricist, actor, singer, writer, director, and educator, Garry has written music and lyrics for over a dozen shows and performs regularly on stages in the HRM.

Audiences may recognize him from Sing-Along Show Tunez, Shakespeare-By-the-Sea, DaPoPo Theatre, and others. He has appeared in such shows as Mimi: or the Poisoner’s Comedy, The Last Five Years, and A Little Night Music.

Garry was nominated for his performances in The Miracle Man and Tournament of Lies and for his collaborative scores for The Jew of Malta, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, and Twelfth Night. He received the 2019 outstanding original score Merritt Award for Kamp.

Garry wrote his first full-length musical just out of high school and went on to study musicology and comparative literature at Free University Berlin, before continuing his studies in New York. He graduated from Mount Allison University with a focus on vocal performance. Before the pandemic, he worked as a freelance theatre-maker and educator.
