Complicated relationships: live with the company of The Last Five Years

Neptune Theatre presents this Jason Robert Brown penned musical at Fountain Hall January 21- February 9

Halifax’s Neptune Theatre kicks off 2020 with the Drama Desk Award-winning musical, The Last Five Yearsthe story of a five-year relationship between novelist Jamie and struggling actress Cathy.

Uniquely written, their story is told by Cathy in reverse chronological order beginning at the end of the marriage. In contrast, Jamie’s story is told in chronological order, starting just after the couple first met. The two characters intersect in the middle as their timelines come together at their wedding.

Halifax Presents contributing editor Mark Robins was live at Neptune Theatre as the company of The Last Five Years prepared for opening night.

In this Facebook Live event, we get a sneak peek at the show with a performance of Climbing Uphill by Heather McGuigan (above) who plays Cathy plus he chats with McGuigan, Aidan deSalaiz who plays Jamie and show director Marcia Kash.

The Last Five Years opens at Neptune Theatre’s Fountain Hall Stage on January 21 and continues ‪through February 9.‬ You can get tickets and more information at neptunetheatre.com.
