The Glace Bay Miners’ Museum tells the story of Margaret MacNeil, a young woman caught between love, family, and the often brutal world of mining. As she falls for Neil Currie, a passionate piper with dreams beyond the mines, tensions rise underground and above.

Canadian playwright, journalist, and former politician Wendy Lill’s play, adapted from Sheldon Currie’s novel of the same name, captures mining families’ resilience and unbreakable spirit. It provides insight into the cultural and historical significance of Cape Breton’s coal mining communities and their struggles, hopes, and fights for a better future.

The Glace Bay Miners’ Museum tells the story of folks who dared to stand against a system built on hardship and loss,” says Dartmouth Players board of directors’ president, Zach Melanson. “The show offers a glimpse into the life of miners in Cape Breton and honours their legacy.”

Dartmouth Players presents The Glace Bay Miners’ Museum at Stairs Memorial Church (44 Hester Street, Dartmouth) from March 13-29, 2025. Visit dartmouthplayers.ns.ca for tickets and information.
