#FridayFive: 5 shows & festivals not to miss this summer in Halifax

Here are five shows & festivals we think will entice you inside - or outside, as the case may be - as the weather (hopefully) turns sunny and warm in Halifax.

Summer may traditionally be a slow season for the arts, but we’ve got five shows & festivals we think will entice you inside – or outside, as the case may be – as the weather (hopefully) turns sunny and warm in Halifax.

1Okay, technically, two shows, but we’re counting it as one as Shakespeare by the Sea (Jul 8-Sep 2) celebrates 30 years with Romeo and Juliet and the family-friendly Pinocchio: The Musical.

Siya Ajay as Pinocchio and Patrick Jeffrey and Jade Douris-O’Hara as Romeo and Juliet, the two main stage productions at this year's Shakespeare by the Sea.

2The TD Halifax Jazz Festival (Jul 11-16) returns to venues across Halifax, featuring a cross-section of local talent and headliners that include Feist, Shaggy, Fleet Foxes and Fortunate Ones.

3One of the funniest shows you will ever see on stage, from the minds of South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, Broadway in Halifax presents The Book of Mormon at the Scotiabank Centre (Jul 18-23).
