Award-winning Halifax pianist Jennifer King has certainly been busy. Having just completed work on the first in a series of sensory-friendly concerts for Cecilia Concerts, she is now ready to launch her new album, O Mistress Moon: Canadian Edition.
Available on all streaming platforms on April 8 on the Leaf Music label, the new album features twelve pieces of all-Canadian and contemporary content. Each solo piano piece “is about the moon, outer space and the night, highlighting the folkloric and Mi’kmaw names of these natural phenomena”.
Halifax Presents contributing editor Mark Robins was live at the Paul O’Regan Hall at the Halifax Central Library as King prepared for her release concert. In this Facebook Live event, King tells us about the album and performs a couple of selections from her new recording.
