Tell us about Thank u, ex. What can audiences expect?

Thank u, ex is a coming-of-age story about a young girl’s journey through her love life. Bringing you 90’s nostalgia forms of heartbreak, loss, love and, of course, the teenage mutant ninja turtles’ delicacy, pizza.

What was the inspiration for Thank u, ex?

I was doing some stand-up comedy at the time, using dating in general as my main topic. After going through a break-up, I felt inspired to turn my shitty relationship to be the punchline of my jokes, and it was the advice of my co-writer, Melly Magrath, to make it more personal.

Why this particular show now?

It’s been my dream to take this show on tour with different Fringe Festivals. Last year, after applying to many other festivals, I got into absolutely none, and I took it upon myself to create my own tour. Halifax was the first stop, and I walked away feeling that if I could do this the second time, I knew it could be magical.

What do you hope audiences leave Thank u, ex talking about?

I hope people walk away from the show talking about what their favourite chapter of the show was. Which chapter makes them need to call their therapist the most? Which part are they least likely to discuss with their parents for Sunday family dinner?

Why should someone come to see Thank u, ex?

Come see the show because it’s relatable, see it because someone recommended it, see it because someone told you how awful it was, and you need to see for yourself how bad it really can be. Come see it because this is the final stop of the tour for the show, and you don’t want to miss it.
