The 2021 FIN Atlantic International Film Festival offers the best of two worlds as it has announced a hybrid festival that will take place September 16-23, both in-person and online for the first time in its 41-year history.
With last year’s introduction of our FIN Stream event, we now have multiple ways to bring the magic of movies to our audience, not only locally in person but online to the rest of Atlantic Canada.
“The festival experience is so much about community enjoyment of films from here and around the world, so the team at FIN is thrilled to be able to say we’re back,” says Wayne Carter, FIN’s executive director in a media release.
Moving towards two separate entities in 2021, FIN Atlantic International Film Festival will offer traditional in-person screenings while FIN Stream will offer movies online.
“With last year’s introduction of our FIN Stream event, we now have multiple ways to bring the magic of movies to our audience, not only locally in person but online to the rest of Atlantic Canada,” continues Carter.
FIN’s in-person event will take place at Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane in downtown Halifax for eight full days.
“We will be offering all of our in-person program in close concert with public health guidelines to ensure everyone is safe whilst once again enjoying what is one of our most precious entertainment experiences: going to the movies,” says Carter.
With a focus on regional content and local filmmakers, this year’s FIN Stream will be available to all Atlantic Canadians with an internet connection with capacity limits and industry-grade anti-piracy measures.
For both the FIN Atlantic International Film Festival and FIN Stream, tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks, with an opening night announcement expected in mid-July, followed by the full program launch in August.
