The Capella Regalis Men & Boys Choir celebrates the 14th edition of its holiday concert, A Chorister’s Christmas, with two shows on December 17 at the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Halifax and online.

The all-new concert for 2023 will include musical works inspired by Christmas throughout the centuries, including a 12th-century chant by the female mystic Hildegard von Bingen, folk songs arranged by 20th-century composers, traditional German and French carols, and hymns “calling for hearty audience participation.”
Performing with the choir will be the Maritime Brass Quintet, organist Paul Halley, and conductor-percussionist Nick Halley, who will also be showcased in instrumental interludes.
“What is unique about our Christmas concerts is the way the young trebles of the boy’s section are heard right alongside the professional musicianship of our men’s section, not to mention our fabulous guest artists, Maritime Brass Quintet and organist Paul Halley,” says founder & artistic director Nick Halley. “But what is perhaps more unique is our choice of repertoire, which spans continents and centuries and which it is our great privilege to perform for audiences today.”
In addition to its Halifax concert, the Choir will perform in Lunenburg on December 16, and a “pay-what-you-can” online video recording of the Halifax live performance will be broadcast from December 23-31.
