Classified and Rose Cousins lead the list of nominees for the 2021 East Coast Music Awards

The awards will be handed out during the 2021 East Coast Music Awards Festival & Conference scheduled for May 5-9 in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

The East Coast Music Association has revealed hip-hop artist Classified and singer-songwriter Rose Cousins lead the nominees’ list for the 2021 East Coast Music Awards.

Classified has a total of eight music and industry nominations, including album, rap/hip-hop recording and solo recording of the year for his Time EP album. The Enfield, Nova Scotia rapper also received nods for songwriter of the year and song of the year for Good News feat. Breagh Isabel.

Halifax-based folk-pop singer-songwriter Rose Cousins has six nominations and competes against Classified in the album, solo recording and songwriter categories. Cousins was also nominated for contemporary roots recording.

Both Cousins and Classified are also nominated in the fan choice awards for entertainer and video of the year.

Beòlach, Catherine MacLellan, David Myles, Neon Dreams, and Rich Aucoin garnered four nominations each.

Among the changes made for the 2021 awards was the creation of a new African Canadian Artist of the Year award and new awards that address shifts in the industry due to COVID-19 and recognize excellence in innovation during the global pandemic.
