Classified gets some respect for Retrospected

The Nova Scotia-based rapper has been nominated for six East Coast Music Awards including album of the year.

Nova Scotia-based rapper Classified tied with Prince Edward Island pop-folk trio The East Pointers with six nominations each at this year’s East Coast Music Awards.

Alongside nominations for album and rap/hip-hop recording of the year for his acoustic album Retrospected, the Enfield, Nova Scotia-based music artist is vying for prizes in the artist innovator, producer, and two fan choice categories.

About to embark on a continuation of his Retrospected Tour with North Preston R&B singer-songwriter Reeny Smith, he will perform two shows in Halifax in mid-February.

Nova Scotia artists outside Cape Breton led the pack with a total of 86 nominations. The complete list of nominees can be found at ecma.com.

Celebrating 35 years, the 2023 East Coast Music Awards spotlight the past, present, and future of music in Atlantic Canada when it comes to Halifax in May.
