Tenille Goodspeed named new executive director of the Halifax Jazz Festival

Goodspeed takes on the role as the Halifax Jazz Festival embarks on its five-year strategic plan to expand its creative and educational impact. 

The Halifax Jazz Festival has announced Tenille Goodspeed as its new executive director.

An event producer and music industry professional, Goodspeed has worked on such high-profile events as the East Coast Music Awards, Boots and Hearts Music Festival, Wayhome Music & Arts Festival, and prior editions of the TD Halifax Jazz Festival.

“This is truly a full circle moment for me,” says Goodspeed. “I started my career with Halifax Jazz Festival years ago, where I found my passion for live events and building up the music industry, and to be coming back in this role is deeply meaningful.”

In addition to Bringing her experience in charitable sector fundraising, grant writing, marketing, and communications to the organization, Goodspeed is also a lifelong choral singer and a founding member of Halifax’s Xara Choral Theatre.

Goodspeed takes on the role as the Halifax Jazz Festival embarks on its five-year strategic plan to expand its creative and educational impact. Under Goodspeed’s leadership, the Festival will expand its year-round concert series, showcasing emerging and established artists, and launch new educational initiatives to support and enrich music education in schools.

“Halifax Jazz Festival, already a big player in the creative economy of Atlantic Canada, is on the verge of incredible growth,” says Goodspeed. “I am honoured to be leading this premier music organization into the future.”
